Velký Špičák is located approximately 3 km northeast of the village of Kovářská. To the east of Velký Špičák, the mining town of Přísečnice used to stand in the Přísečnický creek valley, and today its location is marked by the Přísečnice dam. To the west of the mountain lies the valley of Černá voda, flowing through the village of Černý Potok. Running west-east, 300 meters below the southern foothill, is the road III/21911 from Kovářská to the Přísečnice dam. To the southwest of Velký Špičák, from the same mountain ridge, rise two lower rocky peaks: Střední Špičák (924 m a.s.l.) and Malý Špičák (904 m a.s.l.).
