The Ore Mountains were once far more inaccessible than they are today, with deep forests alternating with rocky gorges and ravines, marshes, peat bogs, and also stony fields where farmers and their families fought for every potato or grain of wheat. This coexistence of man with the wild and beautiful nature gave the Ore Mountain region a true soul and began to breathe with stories and legends, whether fictional or true.
