Ortorul structures, whose formation is estimated to date back to the transition between the Proterozoic and Paleozoic eras. Their current form was shaped by weathering that occurred in the Quaternary during the ice ages. Freezing and disintegration of the rock along fractures caused the formation of typical frost cliffs with vertical rock walls.
