The original town museum in Horní Blatná was established before 1938 and ceased to exist in the early 1950s. In 1977, the Karlovarské Museum created a new exhibit focused on tin mining in the Ore Mountains. On display in the historic half-timbered house No. 127 on Bezručova Street, visitors can see models of mining technology, mineral collections, and tinware. Since 2001, the museum has been expanded to include a small regional gallery. The museum is part of the educational trail Vlčí jámy. Entrance: Fee required
Hornoblatenské Museum is located in the city center in a brick building with a half-timbered upper floor from the 18th century. Besides the exhibition, you might also be interested in the beautiful interior of the building with original stucco ceiling decorations and a coffered ceiling above the staircase.
The exhibition deals with the history of tin ore mining and processing in Horní Blatná and Boží Dar. You will find exhibits of tin ware, local minerals, and mining technical equipment. A popular exhibit is also a large-scale model of Horní Blatná. The tour lasts approximately 15 minutes and the guide provides explanations in both Czech and German.
