Mining in Přebuzi has a long history. The first, albeit undocumented, mentions date back to the period between the 12th and 13th centuries, and the founding of the village is associated with rich tin ore finds in the upper reaches of the Rolava and Rotava rivers. The former Otto mine was part of the most significant tin district in the area, where tin (or rather cassiterite) was mined until the end of World War II. Now the pits are backfilled, but we can still find remnants of the main shaft with the preserved hoist tower structure (a technical monument), 45 rows of sinkholes - pinek, adit entrances, ore and waste heaps, the skeleton of the ore processing plant, sediment ponds, and nearby, the heaps and water ditch. Quietly and mostly unnoticed, it is all growing over with forest. Pinek, which is actually one of the symbols of the Ore Mountains, are small pit or funnel-shaped depressions in the terrain that arose from the collapse of excavated underground spaces or surface mining of minerals.
