Stops on the educational trail Horní Blatná - Vlčí jámy:
The trail starts at the square in Horní Blatná, where parking is easily available. From the first board, you will learn basic information about the town.
From the square, you follow the yellow tourist sign to the former Konrád mine. From there, it is only a short distance to the technical monument Blatenský ditch. Then, a fairly challenging ascent to Blatenský hill awaits you, which you can extend by an additional 85 steps to climb the local lookout tower. From Blatenský hill, you descend to the Ice pit - a 15m deep depression of the Jiří mine, where snow is present all year round. From here, you reach the Wolf pit, which was formed by the collapse of the Wolfgang mine, one of the largest mines in the area. At its deepest point, it reached a depth of up to 85 meters. The Ice pit and the Wolf pit together form a natural monument named Vlčí jámy.
More information about the Wolf pits can be obtained at the Information Center in Boží Dar.
