Blatenský Vrch Lookout Tower

You can encounter the lookout tower on Blatenský vrch during your wanderings in the Krušné hory mountains, about 2 km from Horní Blatná. The lookout tower is located on the route of two popular educational trails, Vlčí jámy and Blatenský příkop. We highly recommend stopping and hiking up to the lookout tower.

Blatenský Vrch Lookout Tower

The 21-meter high stone lookout tower was built in 1913 on the initiative of the Horní Blatná Winter Sports Association. The lookout tower belonged to the hotel and, together with it, was supposed to help in the development of tourism in this part of the Ore Mountains. The hotel and the lookout tower served their purpose until the 1940s, when a military area was established here. Due to its dilapidated condition, the hotel had to be demolished a few years later. The lookout tower has been preserved only thanks to the care of the members of the Czech Union for Nature Conservation.

During the holidays, the lookout tower is accessible daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, and outside the summer season at the same times on weekends.

If you climb the 85 steps to the top of the lookout tower, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Ore Mountains from an overall height of 1044 meters above sea level.
