We can argue about whether it is a pond or a lake, but the truth is that Márinka is a flooded former quarry. Therefore, the water in it is beautifully clear, which suits enthusiasts of swimming, snorkeling, diving, and fishing. The second part of the name Světec is given precisely due to the name of the village Světec, in which this body of water is directly located.
Where to find the pond?
The location is in the Teplice district near the town of Bílina along the road connecting the cities of Most and Teplice. The village of Světec currently includes the villages of Chotějovice, Štrbice, and Úpoř. Chotějovice once spread beyond the Bílina river near the castle garden of Světec up to the location of today's Márinka pond. You will find the pond on the right below the road when driving from Hostomice towards Světec. In a sharp left turn approximately 250 m before the sign indicating the village of Světec, there is a right turn towards the lake or pond, if you prefer. The body of water is visible from the road.
