Not far from the village of Abertamy, there is a former quarry where basalt was mined. In the past, mining here revealed remarkable stone organs. Mining activity ceased here in the early 1960s. Due to the presence of rare animals and plants, the basalt quarry is now part of the Ryžovna nature reserve.
