Postal Office Rolava

The post office was purchased by the owners Petr and Michal in 2018, with the original intention of building a museum with refreshments. Unfortunately, we were unable to gain support for the project of the initially intended museum on the German side from the so-called cross-border cooperation, so we focused on the reconstruction of the building with the aim of creating a place where people from anywhere could meet in the pleasant environment of a mountain restaurant with the opportunity to glimpse the history of the Western Ore Mountains and the micro-region of Rolava/Sauersack.

The journey was difficult, and the reconstruction itself ultimately took five years of intense work. It wasn't just about construction; it was more of a "model-building" effort in the only remaining residential building of the defunct village of Sauersack - now a part of the town of Přebuz - Rolava. Throughout the reconstruction, carried out through self-help, we were assisted by many friends from the surrounding area, as well as from various parts of the Czech Republic and abroad. The farthest helpers came from Frýdek-Místek, but also from Zimbabwe and Canada.

We can only thank all the friends who participated in this painstaking work with their own enthusiasm, sometimes with gritted teeth under the hot sun, in the rain, blizzard, or severe frost. Thanks also to the patience of all the partners of those who spent their free time here - without you, it wouldn't have been possible!
The result is the preservation of the only residential building in the vanished village of Sauersack in the Western Ore Mountains for future generations. We were also greatly rewarded by the visit of Mrs. Elfrída, who was born here in 1939, and her touching thanks for the beautiful repair of the building, in which she would like to celebrate her next birthday with us...
