Bublava

The Krušnohorská village of Bublava, formerly Schwaderbach, is located at the state borders with Germany approximately 4.5 km northwest of Kraslice and covers a cadastral area of 614 hectares.

The first written mention of the village dates back to 1601 in connection with the development of mining in neighboring Tisová. Over the following centuries, the village developed and before World War II it had more than 4000 inhabitants. Today, the village has 404 permanent residents.

Bublava

The village has a diverse location and spreads out in a valley along the Bublavský creek and between the hills Bleiberg (Olověný vrch, 802 m.a.s.l.) and Aschberg (Kamenáč, 936 m.a.s.l.). Another landmark in Bublava is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The village can be reached from Kraslice either by the road leading through the neighboring village Stříbrná, or via Tisová. The border crossing connecting Saxon Klingenthal, intended for personal transport, is also significant for the life and development of the village.

The village became famous a hundred years ago as a center of winter sports, and it remains so to this day. Winter sports enthusiasts are attracted not only by the local ski resort, but also by the Krušné Mountains cross-country ski trail and other popular cross-country skiing routes on both the Czech and German sides of the border. Even in summer, the surroundings of Bublava and the ridges of the Krušné Mountains have much to offer. Every year, tourists and cyclists discover the natural beauty of the area. Visitors can choose from a wide range of accommodations of various types (hotels, guesthouses, apartments, cottages, and chalets) and take advantage of the services of several local restaurants and refreshment spots.

For young families, the clean environment and safety of a small village are attractive. The community life in the village is enriched by typical village cultural events with a family and friendly atmosphere, in which the citizens of Bublava themselves, including the volunteer firefighters, participate. The traditional pilgrimage for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in August, Children's Day, the burning of witches, or the masquerade carnival are well attended. The cultural events are annually culminated on Christmas Eve with a gathering of the citizens from Bublava and its surroundings at the viewpoint above Bublava, where they sing carols together and reflect.
