Abertamy

A picturesque mountain town in the Karlovy Vary district, this is Abertamy. A sought-after resort for both winter and summer sports, it is located fifteen kilometers north of Karlovy Vary and offers ideal transport accessibility.

The town is situated in the western part of the Ore Mountains at an altitude of about 900 meters and has a population of 896. The first settlement here, dating back to the first half of the sixteenth century, was associated with the discovery of silver ore deposits, and later, the local mining was dominated by the extraction of tin ore.

Within the town's territory, there is, for example, the significant Mauritius Mine, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, or one of the largest ski resorts in the Ore Mountains - Plešivec.
