Trip to Placák

In the surroundings of Perštejn, there are many beautiful destinations for your trips. One beautiful view follows another. Špičák, Perštejnský Špičák, Ondřejov, or Rájov. All are quite demanding climbs. However, there is a relatively easy path leading to one hill. And that is to Placák - a magical, seemingly laser-cut hill, a table mountain right above the village of Perštejn.

Park in Klášterecká Jeseně and head upwards from the village square along the ancient sunken road to the forest. It is not marked with a color, but it is very well visible on mapy.cz. Along the edge of the meadow and forest, you will walk on flat ground to the prominent peak of Perštejnský Špičák, where there is a fabulous view. You will also find the so-called Plechovka, a place where radio amateurs from Klášterecko used to broadcast and listen to the whole world. Today, Plechovka serves as a place to take great photos. Try it :-)

Then descend to the saddle between Špičák and Placák, marked on maps as Hradiště.

Walk through the forest to the summit plateau. We recommend going to the lower right edge, where the most beautiful view is. There, you will also find a fire pit. It's also an excellent place for camping. Take a look, for example, at Great Walks 38 - we slept here, and it was amazing.

Placák itself is originally an agriculturally used table mountain, but in recent decades it is "just" a beautiful meadow. Historical sources indicate that during 1300-1050 BC, there was a settlement of the Knovíz culture here, and in the years 800-1000 AD, there was a fortress of Slavic tribes. Its position with a perfect view of both the Ústí and Karlovy regions of the Ohře valley would suggest so. It surely was a strategic place. One feels almost a supernatural sense of overview and safety here. Just try spending an evening or morning here.

You will return to Klášterecká Jeseně via a paved asphalt road that leads under Placák to the east.
