To Mount Meluzina

Today we will go on a trip to Mount Meluzína with Štěpán and Petr. The approximately 11 km loop starts in Loučná pod Klínovcem, the smallest and westernmost town in the Ústí nad Labem Region, which also includes the village of Háj.

The highest point of today's trip is Meluzína, the fourth highest mountain in the Czech part of the Ore Mountains. Meluzína is a striking rocky ridge approximately 700 m long and 250 m wide, with a rocky and treeless peak, allowing you to enjoy views of Klínovec, Fichtelberg, Měděnec, Nechranice, the Ohře valley, or even Bärenstein.

After descending from Meluzína, especially in the spring and summer months, you can be dazzled by the colors and scents of the Horská louka u Háje nature reserve, which represents a typical Ore Mountains meadow. Rare plant species such as Pinguicula alpina, Orchis, and Pinguicula can be found here. From here, it is just a short distance to the cemetery in Loučná, from where there is a beautiful view of the Polava valley.

And we are back in Loučná pod Klínovcem on the border with Saxony, where there is a relaxation and educational area by the Polava stream, featuring play elements, rest areas, and a little library. To complete the trip with the famous painter, we recommend visiting the Gustav Zindel Gallery on the first floor of the town hall.
