Through the Forest Along the Narrow-Gauge Railway (Černý Potok, Schmalzgrube, Jöhstadt)

Today it will be a warm-up route at the beginning, but then it will be smooth. Parking might be a bit of a problem, but hopefully, you will find your spot in one of the two possible options.

We will head out on the blue trail and climb below the peak of Černopotocký Hill. In the middle of a long straight path, the blue trail turns right, but we will continue straight on the Křížová cesta (Cross Way) down to the valley. Only if we want to add 1.5 kilometers to the trip and take a closer look at the Přísečnice Dam, we will stick to the blue markings and then "transfer" to the yellow trail at the dam. It is also possible to use some of the parallel forest paths, just be prepared for occasional slaloms between fallen trees.

The yellow trail leads us with a slight descent along the Přísečnice stream until we cross into Germany and shortly arrive in Schmalzgrube. Here we will check out the picturesque stop of the Pressnitztalbahn narrow-gauge railway (Přísečnice Railway). With a gentle ascent along the tracks, we will head upstream Schwarzwasser on the German Kammweg (Ridgeway) - really unusual, through the valley on a ridgeway, what a paradox! We will pass the Schlössel (Small Castle) stop until we reach the exhibition hall, where the local railway proudly offers a tour of its treasures, locomotives, and wagons.

We will leave the railway, and the Kammweg will lead us out of the valley to the forest edge. We will climb up a bit, but do not regret it - the views down to the valley and Jöhstadt on the opposite hill are really worth it. We will follow the forest back to the spot where Schwarzwasser turns into Černý Potok, and we are only a short distance from our destination.

It is worth noting that the entire route is also suitable for bicycles, especially if you are not scared of hills or if you have electricity buzzing under your seat. We wish you a nice trip!
