Three Špičáky

Today's invitation for a trip will somewhat resemble an invitation to the dentist: we will offer you THREE PEAKS right next to each other! You might know Velký Špičák, which proudly rises to 965 meters above sea level above the Přísečnická reservoir and forms an unmistakable landmark when viewed from the road to Vejprty. However, you probably don't know that it has two smaller brothers next to it, Střední Špičák (924 meters above sea level) and Malý Špičák (904 meters above sea level).

We will set off on the circuit from Kovářská, taking Dlouhá Street northward. We will turn into Tovární Street, but avoid the factories and start climbing into the mountains straight away. Don't expect tourist signs in this area, better set the route on your phone to avoid getting lost in the forest! We'll take it step by step. Malý Špičák is really small, just a pile of rocks. Střední Špičák already looks somewhat like a hill, but the real attraction awaits beyond it: stone organs suddenly emerge from the forest, almost like at Rolava or Kamenický Šenov! And of course, the king is Velký Špičák with its amazing panoramic view. On one side, Klínovec and Fichtelberg rise, opposite them we can see another prominent landmark above Přísečnice: Jelení hora.

From the Špičáks, we will head nicely downhill until we hit the yellow trail and thus also the well-known Stezka Českem. We will turn right onto it and enjoy an easy three kilometers almost along the contour line. Then we will leave the trail for a short while and set off on a one-kilometer climb. At its end, we will rejoin the Stezka Českem, this time not on the yellow but on the blue trail. We will cross the iconic Chomutov - Vejprty railway line from 1872 twice and from the Kovářská Městys station, we will have a leisurely descent all the way to the finish for a well-deserved refreshment in Kovářská.
