You might think that there is nothing new to discover around Klínovec anymore. We will try to surprise you and offer a circuit for today's trip that you surely don't know. And you will be amazed at how many attractions will catch your eye along the way.
We will start in Kovářská at the square and head towards Kovářská Station / Bahnhof Schmiedeberg. However, we don't have to stick to the main street; Kovářská also offers nice local pathways. We will pass by the magical ruins of the former ironworks and the nameless pond on the Black Water stream. Near the railway crossing, we must not forget to check out the renovated villa of industrialist Antonín Kalla, who once employed up to 600 people here in the production of fish preserves: MORE INFORMATION
If we arrived by train, we can skip the detour to Kovářská. Right before our eyes is another local attraction: the residential "Mountain Wagons," in which (not just railway enthusiasts) can secure original and romantic accommodation, even with 'terraced' seating right at the end of each wagon. From the station, we head on a comfortable path to the lime kiln, which is one of the local attractions where you can read all about lime production on informational boards. We cross the stream and huff a bit on our way to Wolf Hill, from where we descend, for example, to the Pub Restaurant in Háj.
After a refreshment, we head back to Kovářská via the forest Dead Road. This is undoubtedly the most beautiful part of our walk. We haven't been able to find out where it got its name. We offer the theory that the formerly busy forest road with a pleasant gentle slope suitable for both pedestrians and carriages became dead after being cut off by the new Chomutov - Vejprty railway line in 1872. The crossing over the tracks is still a wild affair today, don't expect any official pedestrian crossing.
Once we emerge from the forest, we are almost at the end. If it's not too wet, we can shorten our way back to Kovářská through the meadow with beautiful views. And in Kovářská, we can reward ourselves with ice cream or beer!
