On the trail of Ore Mountains gastronomy and good drinks

26 km

The magical triangle between the towns of Boží Dar, Abertamy, and Horní Blatná is quite literally a tourist paradise for the whole family. Virgin nature, romantic walks around the Božídarské peat bog and Dead Pond will be appreciated by moms, the popular Ježíšek’s Path and numerous lookout towers in the area will be loved by children of all ages, Mauritius Mine, Johannes Shaft, and Wolf Pits will bring joy to the whole family. But there is also something special for dads. The mentioned area is interwoven with family breweries and many pubs and kiosks in nature. So let’s set off on the trail of Ore Mountain gastronomy and good drinks.

We start our journey in Boží Dar, at the local Červený Vlk Brewery. Homemade beer, stylish atmosphere, excellent cuisine. All of this sets us in the right mood for the next leg of our journey. We head through the town center and past the local cemetery, connect to the Ježíšek’s Path, and continue towards Myslivny. After two kilometers, a wooden building - a popular refreshment stop for tourists, cyclists, and cross-country skiers - Krmelec, suddenly appears before us. We recharge our energy and dash off to find more gastronomic treasures.

To stretch our legs a little (as they say, to work up a thirst), we head from Myslivny towards Božídarský Špičák and further around Dead Pond towards Hřebečná. Here, at the road crossing, another unique kiosk - Maringotka - draws us in. Smiling service, good beer, a wide range of homemade delicacies, and even a seating area or a pétanque court. It will be hard to leave this place, but there are more attractions on the route.

We are now walking through a unique mining area listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a landscape interwoven with many tunnels, mines, and sinkholes. And one such mining landmark gave its name to another popular refreshment stop on our route. Červená jáma looks like a fairy-tale house, yet every traveler will find something to eat and drink here. From here, we set off further towards the road connecting Horní Blatná and Boží Dar.

Here we turn right and follow the road towards the place where the village of Ryžovna once stood. Today, you’ll only find a few houses here, but surprisingly, two of them serve as restaurants. You can choose between visiting the family brewery Ryžovna with a restaurant in the building of the former school or the stylish Ore Mountain restaurant Salaš a bit further. Honestly, both restaurants are definitely worth a visit.

Properly strengthened, we can finally set out on our way back to Boží Dar. On a brisk walk in the fresh air, you quickly get hungry again, so those who haven't had enough yet can anchor in one of the dining establishments in Boží Dar. And there are many of them. Restaurant Hranice, Radniční sklípek, Restaurant Daro, Zelený dům... Here, in the heart of the Ore Mountains, you definitely won't go hungry. So off you go on a trip and bon appétit!

PS: If you decide to stop at all the recommended dining establishments during your trip, we bear no responsibility for any silent treatments at home…
