From Nejdek over the lookout tower and waterfall to the thousand

Who is today's trip for? For lovers of longer routes or for those who take a nap halfway through, or perhaps those who split the trip into two circuits and tackle each separately. We are looking at approximately 26 km on paved roads and forest animal trails with an elevation gain of 423 m. Let's get started!

We park at the winter stadium, behind which opens a park with its own swimming pool, children's playground, and pump track. We go around it on the left and set off on the Vysoká štola - Oldřichov educational trail. Although we will only go through it partially, we recommend completing the entire 9 km trail, which offers an excursion into the history of Nejdek, geology, mining, old roads, and landscape character.

From the beginning, it is evident that we are climbing, but at the archery range, we enter a forest path, for which our legs will already thank us. And not just them. The all-encompassing peace here radiates from every blade of grass and a few cottages. And what would a trip be without mentioning the railway? It's here and takes the form of the stone Sheep Bridge, nestled in the hills and forests, crossing the track connecting Nejdek and Horní Blatná. It was built during its construction in 1898 where the railway intersected an old cart road.

We pass a well, turn onto Sejfská Road at a shelter, and after a few meters turn onto the yellow trail heading to a really great lookout tower. And Pajndl definitely is, we've already written about it once (read HERE). You can have your first refreshment at the fireplace behind a large boulder and then move on.

The green trail would nicely take you to the next point, but we, for instance, chose a more forestry path (read the map). We walked around Borový Hill, a few steps on the road, and voila, a turnoff to the waterfall named after someone called Miluše. It is quite possible that Miluška was a child because, in the eyes of an adult, the stream is not worthy of such a grand name, but it is beautiful nonetheless.

And so we continue, this time on a road called Šupenbergská (or also Shuppenberská), primarily known to cross-country skiers. So avoid it in winter to not disturb any possible tracks (if it snows, that is). We pass through the Hamer Valley, indicating that we are low and what awaits us? Yes, a climb. This time to Dragon Rock at 953 m above sea level. It's a granite rock wall formed by frost destruction of the rock mass - as the clever internet says. We perceive the rocks surrounding us on three sides and the fireplace with seating, where we gather strength for the next peak.

And that is Trousnická Rock. We reach it via Perninská Road, and we are rewarded not only by the rocks themselves but also by that typical Krušné Mountains fragrant combination of heather, bilberries, pine trees, and haphazardly scattered boulders. There are more rock towers here, and any climber will have a field day; however, for a breathtaking view, you don't need any safety gear, as the main Trousnická Rock at 954 m above sea level can be tackled with your four-legged friend.

You might say that now we only have the final stretch of the loop left, but even it is full of "oohs" and "aahs" over blooming meadows, grazing cattle, and - as it typically is with us - SILENCE.
