This time we want to invite you to Bublava, a typical Ore Mountain village located close to the Czech-German border. At this time of year, visitors are captivated by the green hills, the highest of which is Kamenáč (Aschberg), better known as Olověný vrch (Bleiberg). Like many other border villages, Bublava experienced the forced expulsion of the German population in 1945, and the village subsequently received its Czech name from the original Schwaderbach. Today it is a center for winter and summer sports. In winter, you can use the ski area or put on cross-country skis and ride the Krušné Hory Magistrale or other cross-country trails. In summer, Bublava is an ideal place for cyclists, hikers, and nearby, lovers of via ferratas and trail parks will also find something to enjoy.
As usual, we set out to explore history on the newly built Aschberg Educational Trail through Time. The circuit we chose is under 5 km and along the way, you can enjoy the peace of the magical forest. The trail starts at the crossroads next to the U Pražáka restaurant, then leads you via the Czech Trail along the watercourse that once served as a source of drinking water for residents under the Aschberg peak. The homes of these former residents, or rather their remnants, were discovered by local enthusiasts who managed to identify the owners and find the original appearance of the houses. All of this can be discovered on the information boards along the trail. And then you can soak up the energy of places where accordion makers or embroidery creators once lived.
In addition to history, the trail offers an introduction to the local nature - waterfalls, vegetation, geology, and wildlife. In the fragrant dense forest, you will find mosses, ferns, and interesting rock formations. For children, there are several wooden play elements along cycle path 2000 to observe deer, smugglers, and other forest animals.
The ascent is mostly easy, and at the end, you will be rewarded with a view from the gazebo of the opposite Olověný vrch, the surrounding hills, and the entire Bublava. And a few hundred meters lower, you can enjoy a second reward in the form of good food and drink in one of the local pubs. Bublava and its surroundings certainly deserve your attention and at least a few days in its pristine environment.
