Around Ryžovna

Today we offer a circuit around one of the most beautiful places in the Ore Mountains - the vanished settlement of Ryžovna. We will walk through beautiful countryside, and along the way, we will encounter many attractions.

You can park at several places; we chose the crossroads on the ridge between Hřebečná and Ryžovna. We head south, and after a while of descending, we turn right onto the Hřebečná educational trail. After 300 meters, we arrive at today's first point of interest: a former quarry offering a surprising view of luxurious rock columns. Additionally, here we find the magical remnants of the reinforced concrete structure of the former main building, with which nature has been playing for a hundred years in an effort to completely engulf them.

We return to the main road and continue descending towards Hřebečná. After a while, we come across the first temptation - Maringotka refreshment. We leave it up to you whether to indulge...
We turn right and join the Stezka Českem. A comfortable contour path will take us to a beautiful viewpoint at the Bílá holubice adit. Here, across the meadow, we see Hřebečná in the valley and majestically rising Plešivec on the horizon. We continue almost along the contour until we reach the fairytale building of Červená jáma refreshment. This little house, with its original appearance, delights both young and old. Surely one day, we will find it in architecture textbooks!

We turn right, and our path bends to the north. We cross the road to Horní Blatná and reach an amazing waterwork, which is the Blatenský water ditch. We will have to bypass the first short section due to reconstruction (but who knows, maybe it's already finished!), then we take a beautiful three-kilometer walk along the ditch to Ryžovna. Here, we find the last refreshment of the day, and we can choose between two establishments, both equally good: Ryžovna Brewery and Salaš Restaurant. 

From Ryžovna, we head back to the car, taking on the steepest climb of today's trip - after a visit to the restaurant, it will do us good. But make sure to stop halfway up the hill at the memorial of the vanished St. Wenceslas Church. From here, you can view the entire valley from a beautiful carved bench, installed here during the Vanished Villages Day in 2023. You won't want to get up from the bench; it's really beautiful here.
