Around the ČSA mine

Are you interested in how the landscape changes after mining? Take a trip through the reclaimed landscape around the ČSA quarry.

You can park in Horní Jiřetín at the restaurant U Karbanů, or you can get here by bus from Most and Litvínov - line no. 14. After a short walk through the village to its outskirts, a landscape where coal was once mined will open up before you.

There are plenty of ways to go - both hikers and cyclists will find something for themselves. Today, we choose a shorter route, suitable for pedestrians or even beginner cyclists. It measures approximately 8 km in total.

Along the way, you will cross the cycle path 7eko track - seven symbolic stops representing places associated with coal mining. At each stop, you will find a QR code that, when scanned with a smartphone, displays a map with information and interesting facts about that location.

A new project is emerging in the quarry area called Green Mine, aimed at the revitalization and resocialization of the entire area - a part of the project is Biosafari.

The predominantly gravel path will guide you through the landscape with views of the quarry, the Ore Mountains, and the Jezeří Castle sitting on the slope.

Once there was the Komořanské Lake here, today you will walk through the mined landscape and in a few years, a water surface will emerge again. It is interesting to observe the transformation of the landscape over time and to be personally involved in its change.

As you can see, even a landscape after mining can offer more than one trip.
