Day of the Extinct Villages in Fojtovice

FOJTOVICE - MOHELNICE - HABARTICE

There are many places in the Ore Mountains where the pulse of life once beat, only to be replaced by silence and desolation over time. Some villages were displaced after the war, others were supplanted by water or mines. Only memories in the form of photographs, the recollections of those who remember, or imprints of human activity on the landscape remain from these vanished communities and their inhabitants.

Among such places are the villages of Fojtovice, Mohelnice, and Habartice. We will jointly commemorate their memory on Saturday October 5th as part of the Day of Vanished Villages, to which we warmly invite you!

You can look forward to the following program:

10:00 opening ceremony, introductory speech

11:30 walk with Ing. arch. Josef Zumr through the vanished villages

12:00 unveiling of the Czech-German memorial bench

15:30 Birchtown (folkrock, CZ)

17:30 Čistírna pokaždé jinak (alternative rock, CZ)

19:00 screening of the documentary film Stopy na pláni by Petr Mikšíček

20:00 lighting of old Fojtovice

The celebrations will take place in Fojtovice, specifically at the Dřevák refreshment area.
